One more hour to sleep next night

(Montreal) Most Canadians will set their watches and clocks back one hour to return to standard time, overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

The time change will take place at 2 a.m. and will last until March 10.

However, Yukon and most of Saskatchewan keep standard time throughout the year. Yukon last changed the time in March 2020, and Standard Time is now permanent there.

The Montreal Fire Safety Service (SIM) reminds that this is a good time to check the condition of smoke alarms.

The department says several deaths occur each year as a result of fires in places where smoke alarms were absent or nonfunctional.

The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux also specifies that bars and restaurants will have an extra hour on Sunday night to serve alcoholic drinks.
