Speedwell Gou runs a shoe store in the Paris region. In good months, she receives an average of 2,000 euros net. A salary that she estimates to have halved in ten years. “With inflation, there is less consumption. We are more in debt because we took out a loan guaranteed by the State, which increased our charges. We have a fairly high maintenance of tax charges. This is complicated, especially with banks”, she laments. His profession remains uncertain. “Tomorrow, if my business fails, I do not have the possibility of contributing to the unemployment. If I stop, I no longer have none income”she recalls.
20% of them earn less than 1,400 euros per month
A situation experienced by many small business leaders. According to a study, 20% of them earn less than 1,400 euros per month, 31% between 1,400 and 2,600 euros, the rest earn more than 2,600 euros. “We see that many of these business leaders have lower salaries than their own employees”, indicates Jean-Eudes du Mesnil, general secretary of the CPME.
