One in five Quebecers does not work in French, according to Statistics Canada

Nearly 20% of workers in Quebec do not have French as their main language at work, according to data from the 2021 Census on work released today by Statistics Canada.

French is used primarily at work by 79.9% of workers in Quebec, while 14% use English. 5.4% say they use French and English equally.

It is in Montreal that English is most present at work. 21% of workers mainly use English, while 70.0% mainly use French. 8.3% say they use both languages ​​equally.
