One foot injured | Nick Kyrgios withdraws from Roland-Garros

(Canberra) Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the French Open due to a foot injury he allegedly suffered at his home in Canberra after a man allegedly threatened his mother with a gun and stole his car, according to Australian media.

THE Canberra Times reported on Thursday that Kyrgios realized he had cut his foot while trying to help his family and find the thief.

A man was arrested in Canberra shortly after the robbery, which occurred earlier in May. Kyrgios helped police by using an app on his phone to locate the car.

Kyrgios manager Daniel Horsfall says the Australian, 26e in the ATP rankings, had hoped to increase his on-court training load over the past three weeks, but the injury was not yet fully healed.

The injury forced Kyrgios to forfeit a friendly against Holger Rune in Denmark, and the French Open, which he last played in 2017.

Kyrgios hasn’t played in a tournament since October after scans revealed a cyst on a meniscus. He withdrew from the Australian Open in January, when he underwent surgery.
