In Porticello (Sicily, Italy), sea searches resumed at dawn on Tuesday, August 20, to find victims of a yacht shipwreck. Specialized divers are exploring the wreck located at a depth of 50 meters. “We have underwater caving teams equipped to work in this type of submerged environment”explains Marco Tilotta, a firefighter diver from Palermo (Italy).
The 56-metre-long luxury yacht sank at sea with 12 passengers and 10 crew members on board. One person died and six remain unaccounted for. A violent storm swept through the Porticello area on Monday 19 August and the yacht was reportedly caught in a waterspout, a column of air and water, before disappearing from the surface.
