One dead and two injured in violent road accident in Rawdon

A woman died and two people were injured in a violent road accident that occurred Monday morning in Rawdon, in the Lanaudière region.

The collision involving two vehicles occurred around 9:30 a.m., at the intersection of Route 348 and Chemin Forest.

According to authorities, the 84-year-old driver was traveling on Forest Road and made her obligatory stop at the intersection of the provincial road.

It was while entering Route 348 that his car was struck by the vehicle which was approaching at the same time.

The impact was brutal and both cars were thrown off the road.

The driver of the first vehicle, an 84-year-old woman, was transported to hospital, where she was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The 76-year-old man who accompanied him suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second car escaped with relatively minor injuries under the circumstances.

A portion of Route 348 was completely closed to traffic to allow collision scene investigators from the Sûreté du Québec to do their work.
