The body of a 37-year-old man was found by fire brigade divers. The six other occupants of the damaged semi-rigid were all evacuated to hospitals in Var.
A 37-year-old man died in the accident of the boat in which he was sailing off the coast of Saint-Tropez (Var) which also left three seriously injured and three more lightly injured.
Around 2 a.m., the 8-meter semi-rigid with seven people on board hit a mooring box off Canebiers beach, east of Saint-Tropez, the maritime prefecture tells France 3 Côte Azure. Under the violence of the shock, the occupants of the boat were all ejected.
CrossMed coordinated a major rescue effort, including two SNSM launches and a Navy helicopter and 26 Var firefighters, including three divers.
It was the divers from the Var fire brigade who found, this Saturday early in the morning, the lifeless body of the last passenger, missing since the accident.
During the night, three seriously injured passengers – two men aged 35 and 52 and a woman aged 38 – were respectively evacuated to the hospitals of Fréjus, Draguignan and Gassin, the Var firefighters indicated in a press release.
The three other injured, lighter people – two men aged 24 and 20 and a 20-year-old woman – were transported to the Gassin health center.
