A mountaineer died on Saturday January 29, at the start of the afternoon, in a fall on La Tournette mountain, in the Aravis massif, in Haute-Savoie, reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie. Her climbing partner was seriously injured. The causes of the accident are not yet known.
The man, in his thirties, fell while climbing shortly before 2 p.m. The mountaineer who accompanied him, also in his thirties, was transported in absolute urgency by helicopter to Annecy hospital.
Two helicopters, that of the Choucas 74 gendarmerie and that of the Dragon 74 civil security, were mobilized.
This is the second mountain accident in Savoie this week. Tuesday, January 25, a skier hiking was found dead in the Beaufortain, at the foot of the north face of the Grand Mont, after falling.
