New deadly strike from Moscow. At least one person was killed and four were injured during a Russian bombing that hit a train station in Kherson, in southern Ukraine, the Ukrainian Interior Minister said on Tuesday, December 26.

“Kherson, in the evening. About 140 civilians were waiting at the station for the evacuation train to leave. That’s when the enemy began a massive bombardment of the city”, wrote Igor Klymenko on Telegram. A police officer was killed and two civilians and two police officers were injured by shrapnel, he said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, declared that “many civilians were there” at the time of typing, adding that “All the services [de secours] are now on scene.. Ukrainian Railways Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Telegram that the station and train were damaged, but “the situation is under control and the railway is ready to continue operating”.

The city of Kherson had been occupied for several months by the Russian army in 2022 before it withdrew across the Dnipro River, with each side now controlling a bank. The city has since been regularly targeted by deadly Russian bombings: other strikes left four people injured, including one seriously, on Tuesday, according to the head of the Kherson military administration.
