one dead and five injured in an attack in Tel Aviv, amid renewed violence in the Middle East

A new attack against a backdrop of renewed violence in the Middle East. A man in his thirties was killed and five other people were injured on Friday evening, April 7, in an attack in the center of Tel Aviv, rescue report. Israeli police, joined by AFP, evokes a “terrorist attack against civilians, a ramming car attack”.

The facts occurred on Kaufmann Street, the main artery that runs along the beach, reports Magen David Adom (MDA), the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross. The emergency services presented the victims as “tourists”. A policeman and city officers who were nearby shot and killed the driver of the car, police said.

Israel mobilizes additional police and soldiers

Following this attack, which occurred on a Sabbath evening and during the week of Passover, the Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, “ordered the Israel Police to mobilize all reserve Border Police units, and to [l’armée] to mobilize additional forces to deal with terrorist attacks”announces his office.

Earlier on Friday, two British-Israeli sisters, aged 16 and 20, from the Israeli settlement of Efrat, were killed and their mother seriously injured in a Palestinian attack in the West Bank, Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967. These two come after Israeli strikes in Gaza and Lebanon against positions of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, in response to the firing of dozens of rockets against its territory.
