One person was killed and fourteen others injured in the collision between two local trains on Monday (February 14th) near Munich, in southern Germany, police said. The two trains collided in the late afternoon in the area of Ebenhausen-Schäftlarn station, south of the Bavarian capital.
Local media footage showed passengers descending onto the tracks after the collision, with one car partially derailed.

The cause of the accident is not known at this stage, according to the police. The two commuter trains apparently collided head-on where the line was single-track, according to media reports.
According to the Bild newspaper, the two trains carried a total of 95 people. More than 200 emergency personnel were on site in the early evening, police said.
Passengers told the local newspaper Münchner Merkur that they felt a violent shock and were thrown out of their seats. Rail operator Deutsche Bahn said an official investigation had been opened. Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soeder said he was shocked by the “terrible news” and thanked the rescuers for their “fast intervention”.
