On your screens: new situation

A new generation in the cities

“A politician is someone who does the right things, for the right reasons, so my mandate today is a lot of adjustments and a lot of difficult things,” says Mathieu Maisonneuve, mayor of Saint-Lin–Laurentides since 2021, in the documentary series produced by Anabelle Lavoie for Savoir media. In Town halls. New generation, we dive, in fact, through a non-partisan and above all human perspective, into the daily life of these mayors who embody a breath of fresh air in their way of exercising power. How do they then stand out from their predecessors and ensure the well-being of their community despite a gloomy economic and social context and disinterested citizens?

Mathieu Maisonneuve, just like Évelyne Beaudin, mayor of Sherbrooke, Michaël Pilote, mayor of Baie-Saint-Paul, Nathalie-Ann Pelchat, mayor of Senneterre, and Bruno Marchand, mayor of Quebec, are part of this process of change, this new wave of leading players on critical issues such as the fight against climate change. In their own way, they must make decisions and face demands that sometimes go against their ideals. But no matter, it seems that nothing can hinder their commitment to local governance, their desire to communicate better and their curiosity about each of their constituents.

But also at Historia

The television channel is aimed at thrill-seekers with two original documentary series. The first one, AvGeek, offers privileged access to the activities of Quebec aviation lovers, whether they are pilots or mechanics. We notably meet the Cloutier brothers, at the Ray-Air mechanical workshop in Saint-Hyacinthe, who obtained their pilot’s license before being able to drive a car… There is also Ghislain Buisson, who teaches pilots the basics of off-road aviation from the Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu aerodrome, and Frank Fournelle, a gifted pilot recognized for his acrobatic maneuvers in the sky, who began the necessary procedures to obtain the certificate giving the right to perform at air shows.

The second broadcast, Dream bikes, is dedicated to the world of three motorcycle enthusiasts. Mechanical experts Samuel, Charles-Élie and Éric share the same love for restoring retro two-wheelers and taking them out on the roads once the work is finished. The documentary series also introduces us to a whole community of bikers who live for their cars.
