“I’m going to sing my grandfather’s favorite song,” she announced with difficulty, overwhelmed by emotion.

The young woman performed the song But what do I have? which she ended in tears, while the audience applauded her warmly.

She was joined on the choir of the Notre-Dame basilica in Montreal by singer Marc Hervieux, with whom she subsequently performed the song When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.

The song ended with the English lyrics: “We can hear the angels singing,” after which a clip featured the Right Honorable Brian Mulroney singing a recorded passage from We’ll meet again.
