ON VIDEO | A vehicle theft completely degenerates in Boisbriand

A vehicle theft completely degenerated last week in Boisbriand, when two men were stabbed with machetes while they tried to prevent two young thieves from fleeing.

Much of the scene was filmed by one of the victims and the images are stunning.

It all started last Tuesday, when the owner of a luxury Cadillac Escalade SUV had his vehicle stolen in Saint-Eustache, on the northern edge of Montreal.

According to our information, the man managed to find his SUV shortly after and regain possession of it.

He then went to park it in the fenced yard of a company in Boisbriand to ensure that it was safe there.

Clearly not afraid, the two young suspects managed to find the Cadillac Escalade – presumably after installing a GPS system on it – in the company’s courtyard.

They went there in a stolen BMW to recover the SUV they had previously stolen, despite the fact that it was in broad daylight, with employees working there.

It was at this point that the situation completely degenerated.

Seeing the thieves at work inside the fenced yard, employees quickly blocked access to the two young bandits. One of them, armed with a machete, managed to escape by crawling under a fence.

His accomplice, driving the BMW, was literally trapped by two employees.

We see him rolling around the yard, desperately looking for a way out.

“Start the loader! Start the loader! Crush the tank!” an employee shouts at his colleague.

A man then climbs aboard a huge loader, encouraged by his panicked colleague: “Crush the tank! Enweille! Crush it! Crush that tabarnak!” he repeats.

Taking advantage of the fact that the driver of the BMW is stuck between a vehicle and a container, the loader operator begins to roll over the rear of the car.

The young thief manages at the last minute to leave the car and starts running, visibly distraught, pursued by one of the employees who films the entire incredible scene.

“What’s your name? We’ll find you! We’re going to burn your house down!” the furious employee shouts at the young suspect.

It was at this precise moment that the thief’s accomplice – who had managed to escape a few minutes earlier – returned from the back of the courtyard, before sneakily stabbing two employees with a machete, including the one who filmed the scene.

“He just stabbed me! Call the ambulance!” laments the author of the video, out of breath.

Both injured men were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville (RIPTB), two young 18-year-old suspects were arrested a few moments after the double attack, very close to the scene.

It cannot be ruled out that the individuals who tried to put a stop to the ambitions of the two young thieves could also face justice.

“[Lorsqu’on est victime d’un crime]the force deployed must be proportional to that encountered,” indicates inspector Karine Desaulniers, spokesperson for the RIPTB.
