The next legislative elections promise to be very close. While the first round will take place on Sunday June 30, what should we expect? Instructions for use and explanations.

With the result of the European elections barely digested, a new three-week campaign begins on Monday June 10. In Bordeaux (Gironde), activists from the National Rally (RN) are already hard at work serving their outgoing MP. “The goal is to go and find our voters, who we have identified (…). And those who did not go to vote, go and tell them that on June 30 and July 7, it is absolutely necessary [qu’ils se déplacent]”explains Frédérique Joint, RN regional advisor.

At the National Assembly, where all work is suspended, on Monday morning, each camp is preparing. The bet is risky for Emmanuel Macron. Apart from the aftermath of presidential elections, the previous dissolution, decided by Jacques Chirac in 1997, ended in a defeat for his camp and the coming to power of the opposition, then embodied by Lionel Jospin.

Today, the first opposition is the RN. The party, for its part, is preparing for cohabitation. Meetings follow one another at party headquarters regarding the identity of the person who would enter Matignon in the event of victory.
