On the road to Portugal, a hundred Ukrainian refugees stop in Beaumont (Puy-de-Dôme)

They were expected on Tuesday. A breakdown of their bus had caused them to take a little delay. The mini-vans and the bus finally arrived a little before 6 p.m. at Beaumont town hall.

A solidarity stop, on the initiative of the father of Beaumont Yesuraja Innaci and the diocese of Clermont: “there was a real outpouring of spontaneous solidarity, I sent a message to find out who was ready to help, people responded in large numbers“explains the priest.

About fifty volunteers met in the “La Ruche” room, located next to the town hall. Inside meals were served to the refugees, sweets given to the children, some toys and stuffed animals as well. Medical care was provided in a corner of the room.

After more than two hours of stopover, the mini-vans and the bus left in the evening for the Basque country, it is there that these Ukrainians were to spend the night before joining Portugal and its capital this Thursday.
