On theIsland of Aix, a few days before the arrival of the tourists, there is no longer any doctor. Finding a replacement for the current doctor, on sick leave, is proving very difficult.

A shadow on the board at the start of summer for the island of Aix (Charente Maritime) : the doctor’s office is waiting for a replacement, because the usual doctor has had to stop for health reasons, as the two busiest months of the year are looming. Only first aid can be provided by the firefighters or the nurse. The mayor of the island contacted the councils of the College of Physicians throughout the region, made phone calls, launched calls on social networks. No answer for the moment, despite the provision of accommodation with a sea view and a very interesting salary.

“There is a significant bonus for the permanence of the care given by the ARS, plus the acts. And you should know that there are a lot of acts since there are 2,000 secondary and main residences and between 2,000 and 6,000 people a day who come during the summer”explains Patrick Denaudmayor of the island of Aix. Doctors at the end of their training or retirees are even accepted.
