on the Côte Bleue, a marine park to preserve biodiversity

It is a small paradise that stretches over 28 km of coastline, west of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Day and night, the teams of the Côte Bleue Marine Park ensure, in particular, in the totally protected area of ​​Carry-le-Rouet. The reserve is 82 hectares, delimited by six buoys. “It’s to explain that in this area, you don’t have the right to fish, to scuba dive with bottles, you don’t have the right to anchor your boat”says Alizée Angelini, director of the Blue Coast Marine Park.

The sanctuary was established almost 40 years ago. It is now home to remarkable biodiversity. Nearly 250 species. Some had almost faded away. “They feel protected in this space. We have species that are larger, more numerous”, develops Alizée Angelini. When it was created, the park was met with reluctance by many fishermen, but the discourse has changed, because the fishing has been better since then. The common goal is to better manage the resource.
