Happy Gilmore, the failed hockey player turned golf champion, will have a new adventure on Netflix, the streaming giant announced Wednesday.
Released in 1996, Happy Gilmore, by Dennis Dugan, helped launch Adam Sandler’s career on the big screen. The actor will reprise the title role and produce the film which does not yet have a director and whose release date has not yet been announced.
Christopher McDonald, who played the arrogant Shooter McGavin, will likely be back, since he revealed last March that Adam Sandler had shown him an early version of the script.
Julie Bowen (Modern Family) was also in the original cast, as were the late Carl Weathers, Frances Bay, Richard Kiel, Joe Flaherty and Bob Barker.
