Feminist killjoy manual
Feminists are often described as “killjoys”. Women who don’t like men, who don’t have a sense of humor, who spend their time “whining”… Sara Ahmed has heard these criticisms doubly since she defends an intersectional feminism, by definition more radical when contrasted with so-called institutional feminism. Her manifesto is intended to be an educational work in which the philosopher turns over every stone, responds to every criticism and defends a diverse and inclusive feminism that also speaks on behalf of trans, queer, racialized and disabled women. A useful book if you want to understand the debates that run through the feminist movement today.

The “Bollorization” of France
The results of the first round of the French legislative elections will be known this Sunday. To better understand the rise of the far right in voting intentions, you should read this interview with media historian Alexis Lévrier. He explains how businessman Vincent Bolloré built a media empire (CNews, Europe 1, Canal+, THE Sunday newspaper…) to carry his conservative ideas. Through its subsidiary Vivendi, it also controls some of the most prestigious French publishing houses such as Fayard, Grasset and Stock. He therefore has an immense influence on the world of ideas and opinions in France. This interview sheds light on the phenomenon.

Vivian Maier – Chiaroscuro
We discovered the talent of Vivian Maier – a seemingly uneventful nanny – thanks to John Maloof who bought a lot of photos at an auction. In the work Vivian Maier, Street Photographer, he introduced the world to the work of this photographer who took around 120,000 street photos. Since then, there have been numerous documentaries, books and, today, this graphic novel which tells the extraordinary life of Maier. She died in 2009 without ever knowing fame, but her work survives her. This graphic novel is a beautiful introduction to the life of this free, independent and exceptional woman.

Where is God? On TikTok!
Young Quebec influencers in their twenties who tell on TikTok how they found Jesus, I didn’t see that one coming! I stumbled upon this report from Urbania that completely captivated me. The journalist talks about the popularity of God among some young influencers and content creators who seem to have found a little peace and serenity in the word of God. And who are spreading the good news on social networks. Passing phenomenon or groundswell? This report is disturbing. And very well done.

Laure Adler, the complete
I miss her voice on France Inter, but fortunately, her writings remain. And there are many. In addition to her essays and biographies, there are numerous interviews, letters, and unpublished notes. This collector’s book is a wonderful demonstration of Laure Adler’s contribution to French cultural and intellectual life. Her positions in favor of women’s rights and the arts give her a unique place in the French media landscape. And if you haven’t seen her documentary The revolt of the old peoplehurry up: we can catch up on the TV5Unis website.
