After visiting the landing beaches, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke on the morning of Friday June 7 before the National Assembly, thanking France for its support. Joe Biden, after a meeting, announced aid of 225 million dollars. The Ukrainian president was also received at the Élysée.
“France, thank you” : the only words that Volodymyr Zelensky spoke in French were addressed to the entire country and given a standing ovation by the deputies present. During a 36-hour diplomatic marathon, the Ukrainian president sought financial and military support. Which was obtained: 650 million euros paid by France, in addition to the training of 4,500 Ukrainian soldiers and the delivery of Mirage 2000. Through the voice of its spokesperson, the Kremlin estimates that Emmanuel Macron “demonstrates absolute support for the Ukrainian regime and declares that the French Republic is ready to participate directly in the military conflict”.
Visiting the Ministry of the Armed Forces, Volodymyr Zelensky reviewed the arsenal already sent by France, to which Mirage 2000-5s will be added. France has 26, specialized in air defense. But it was already planned that these planes would be replaced by 2030 by Rafale. Volodymyr Zelensky took the opportunity to meet Joe Biden, who announced an additional aid of 225 million dollars. The American president called on Europe to do even more for Ukraine.
