Omnium Valero | Patrick Rodgers retains first place

(San Antonio) Patrick Rodgers scored 71 (minus 1) to maintain his lead at the top of the Valero Texas Open standings on Saturday.

At his 235e career start on the PGA Tour, Rodgers is aiming for a first career title and, at the same time, a place in the Masters Tournament.

The 30-year-old American has a cumulative score of minus 12 on the TPC San Antonio course and holds a one-stroke lead over Canadian Corey Conners.

Winner of this tournament in 2019, Conners posted a 69 card after having a more difficult second round.

Matt Kuchar sits third after committing a double bogey at 18e hole. He shot 69 to post a cumulative score of minus 9.

Sam Stevens (68) and Chris Kirk (69) tied for fourth, four strokes behind Rodgers.

Kuchar is one of three golfers to climb the standings on Saturday.

Padraig Harrington, winner of three major tournaments, brought home a 68 to be part of a six-man contingent tied for sixth at 7 under.

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, a former Masters Tournament champion, completed the course in 68 shots and is part of a group of six golfers, including Canadian Nick Taylor (70), tied for 12e rank, minus 6.
