Omicron would force the closure of an elementary school

The Poppy Elementary School would close its doors until December 24 due to an outbreak of the Omicron variant.

“For the past 7 days, several students from your school have received a positive result from COVID-19 Omicron”, the Verdun school administration reportedly indicated in an email sent to parents and relayed by the COVID-19 Écoles Québec site. . This would, in all likelihood, be the first school to be closed due to the new variant.

In order to limit the outbreak, the Direction de la santé publique de Montréal (DSPM) reportedly recommended that the school close its doors until December 24 inclusively.

All students and staff would also be invited to take two preventive PCR screenings and report the test results to the school.

“Rest assured that the management of your school is working closely with the Direction de la santé publique de Montréal in order to limit the transmission of the virus within the school establishment and to maintain the environment safe for all”, would have declared the direction of the Coquelicots .

Tuesday evening, the Direction de la santé publique de Montréal and the Marguerite-Bourgeoys school board had not confirmed the information.
