Omar Sy (Jurassic World 3): Will he come back to live in France?

We no longer present Omar Sy! From a young comedian alongside Fred Testot with whom he made the famous After-sales service on Canal +, it moved to the category internationally renowned actor thanks to his roles in the film Untouchablesthe Netflix series Lupine where he embodies the main character, or even masterpieces like Belleville Cop, yao Where The Forgotten Prince.

While he grew up in Trappes, it is now in Los Angeles in a large property in Hidden Hills that Omar Sy lives with his wife Hélène and their five children including Selly (21 years old), Sabah (18 years old), Tidiane (16 years old) and Alhadji (4 years old). This absolutely does not prevent Omar Sy from returning to France from time to time, particularly during the Cannes Film Festival last May and also for the promotion of the film. Jurassic World 3 in which he plays Barry Sembène. “It was above all so that my children could grow up with an anonymous father… I did not have the keys to raise and protect them in a country where I was a famous person”expressed Omar Sy in an interview with The New Republic in February 2019. Two years later in 2021, the actor, who was in full promotion for the series Lupinehad admitted that his departure for the United States had not changed his way of life in France and especially that it was not at all planned to return to France. “It’s not planned. But I don’t feel like I’ve left, I spend time here (in France), I work here anyway. There, I’m very happy to present a French series produced in France, in French…”he confided to the Parisian at the time.

A life in the United States for tax reasons?

Although needing to take a step back after the incredible success of the film Untouchables which earned hime César for best actor in 2012, Omar Sy was however accused of tax exile. What he also denied on France Info in January 2019: “If you find out about California taxation, you will quickly realize that it is even a little higher than that in France. And then, I work in France. I necessarily pay taxes in France“, he had defended himself before admitting that he felt “better there”that is to say in the United States.
