Nanterre and its surroundings have been ablaze for several hours to shout his anger. This Tuesday, June 27, around 8:30 a.m., Naël, a 17-year-old teenager, was killed following a police shooting for refusing to comply. The agent used his weapon in Nanterre in the Hauts-de-Seine, while he was with a colleague checking the teenager and a passenger. The police officer who used his weapon has since been taken into custody for “voluntary homicide”as announced by the Paris prosecutor’s office at the end of the day.
Tensions erupted a few hours later, in the early evening, between residents and the police, in the Vieux-Pont district of Nanterre. The balance sheet, so far, climbs to 13 arrests according to the police headquarters at midnight thirty this Wednesday, June 28. Many videos are circulating on the Web and opinions differ. Many Internet users say “shocked” on the Web and in particular Patrick Jarry, the mayor of Nanterre. The latter, after discovering the video in which we can see the policeman shooting Naël, expressed his amazement, as did the leader of La France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Omar Sy pays tribute to Naël and calls for justice “worthy of the name”
The former candidate for the 2022 presidential election said: “The death penalty no longer exists in France. No police officer has the right to kill except in self-defense”he lamented before estimating that the police should be “completely overhauled”. Remarks partly joined by many personalities. Starting with comedian Waly Dia. “Tonight you may be tempted to argue with shit shovelers who find the death of a child satisfying. Remember that no one loves them and they know it. Leave them to suffer alone in the dumpster serves as existence”notably dropped the artist.
Omar Sy, meanwhile, called for light to be shed on this case and for justice to be done. The 45-year-old actor also wanted to pay tribute to the young boy who lost his life on Tuesday June 27: “My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of Naël, who died at the age of 17 this morning, killed by a policeman in Nanterre. May justice worthy of the name honor the memory of this child”.
