Omar Sy explains why he no longer lives in France

Omar Sy has now been living in the United States for 10 years, more precisely in Los Angeles (California). A decision made after the triumph of the film Untouchables which allowed him to win the César for best actor in 2012. “I went from Omar and Fred to Omar Sy. I wondered what I was going to be able to do with this new status. I needed to protect my kids. To protect myself. So I put distance”he revealed in an interview with Psychologies.

And the actor does not regret this choice. “It worked much better than we imagined. There were job opportunities, we felt good there, we found a form of appeasement there compared to what we had just experienced in France. There below, notoriety is sweeter there”.

Hélène Sy’s husband also answered questions from Mouloud Achoud on the show Click. The opportunity for the ex-acolyte of Fred Testot to share his feelings in particular on “those who are 20 today”. “They are impressive in the way they see the world”he first said. “They are in another world. They have a reality in front of them, and it looks like the end of the world, all the same, so they have to think about it”.

Then he spoke of his “simple” relationship with his country of birth. “I am very sensitive to what is happening in France, and I can’t stand when things are not going well”.

The interpreter of Lupine will soon be at the cinema on January 4 for the release of Mathieu Vadepied’s filmSkirmishers.
