It has already been thirty years since the Omar Raddad affair has occupied legal topicality. The gardener was condemned and then partially pardoned by Jacques Chirac. However, he was never officially exonerated for the murder of his boss.
For several decades Omar Raddad has not stopped asking for a review of his trial in the case of the murder of his boss, which occurred on June 24, 1991. Twenty-seven years after being sentenced to 18 years in prison for the murder of Ghislaine Marchal, then pardoned by Jacques Chirac, Omar Raddad has just won his case and will see his case opened again by the courts. “This is one of the biggest mistakes of the twentieth century, which we are going to rectify thanks to the court of revision”, says the gardener’s lawyer, Maître Sylvia Noachovitch.
At the request of Omar Raddad and his lawyer, new DNA expertise is being carried out. “The family of Ghislaine Marchal wants its investigations to put a definitive end to this painfully experienced affair”, declares the lawyer of the family of Ghislaine Marchal. When the wealthy landlady was found dead thirty years ago, the message “Omar killed me” written in letters of blood had sown doubt.
