The presence of Celine Dion in the French capital a few days before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is “not a coincidence”, acknowledged the French Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.
Mme Oudéa-Castéra made the comments Wednesday in an interview on French network TF1, amid widespread speculation that the Quebec diva would be in Paris.
Images circulated on social media on Tuesday showing the singer walking the streets of the French capital, meeting her fans.
On the set of the show Good morning, morning On TF1, Minister Oudéa-Castéra was asked if Céline Dion would sing at the opening ceremony on Friday.
All smiles, she replied that Celine Dion was indeed in Paris, that “it was not a coincidence” and that there were “a multitude of possible roles in an opening ceremony.”
She declined to “comment further,” adding that “the element of surprise was crucial.”
The TMZ network reported Tuesday that the Quebec singer would perform at the opening ceremony.
