Olympic Games Opening Ceremony | Celine Dion in Paris: “It’s no coincidence”, she who rehearsed La vie en rose with Lady Gaga

The presence of Celine Dion in the French capital a few days before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is “not a coincidence”, acknowledged the French Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra.

She made the comments Wednesday in an interview on French network TF1, as speculation mounts over the Quebec diva’s presence in Paris.

“You saw that she was in Paris, it’s not a coincidence,” said M.me Oudéa-Castéra, all smiles, on the set of the show Good morning, morning.

“Now there are a multitude of possible roles in an opening ceremony.”

Asked to clarify her thoughts on this last sentence, she refused “to go further in the comments”, adding that “the element of surprise was crucial”.

Images began circulating on social media on Tuesday showing the singer on the streets of the French capital, meeting her fans. In addition, French journalist Thierry Moreau, who had access to information about the opening show, wrote on X on Wednesday night: “@celinedion and @ladygaga rehearsed Edith Piaf’s ‘La vie en rose’ as a duet. Celine Dion will be dressed by Dior with a cape made of pink and black feathers…”

The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will take place on Friday.

The American network TMZ reported on Tuesday that the Quebec singer would participate in the opening ceremony to perform a song.

For her part, the main interested party documented her trip to Paris on Wednesday with photos of her visit to the Louvre Museum.

“Every time I come back to Paris, it reminds me that there is so much joy and beauty to see in the world,” she wrote on the social network Instagram.

“I love Paris and am so happy to be back. Thank you to my wonderful interlocutors at the Louvre!”
