The deputy of La France insoumise and the Minister in charge of Relations with Parliament were torn Thursday evening on the set of France 2.

Should prices be blocked to preserve the purchasing power of the French? This proposal, on the program of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), sparked a lively debate on Thursday June 9 during the program “France 2022” between the deputy for the North Adrien Quatennens (LFI) and the minister responsible for Relations with Parliament, Oliver Véran (LREM).

“There is one thing that Mr. Véran does not say, it is that while the French are tight in the throat on the question of their purchasing power, and especially on the price of fuel, Total has just carried out the record profit in the entire history of the industry in France”argued Adrien Quatennens, accusing the government of fueling the income of this company with its rebate on fuel prices.

“By freezing prices as we propose, the burden no longer rests on the public treasury, but on the suppliers”believes the elected representative of the North. “In a globalized market, freezing prices means taking the risk of shortages”, replied Olivier Véran.
