While the fighting was still raging for the liberation of Paris, the great Sacha Guitry was apprehended at his home by five armed men who took him away with them without any explanation, and without even giving him time to replace his mules and pajamas with a more decent outfit. On the strength of rumors alone, he is suspected of the crime of collaborating with the German occupier and will be brutally imprisoned for 60 days in unsanitary jails and prison camps, without ever knowing the real reason for his arrest. Miraculously, Guitry had the intuition to write down, day after day, the story of this unjust prison experience. From the few days preceding his arrest to the morning of his deliverance, he narrates with his natural elegance and irony these historical facts where small and big History mingle to give us an unprecedented picture of the Liberation.
