Olivier Dussopt confirms his departure from the government

The now ex-Minister of Labor came from the left wing of the presidential camp.

Olivier Dussopt confirmed his departure from the government on Friday January 12 in a message published on within a ministry with a broader scope of health.

“After more than six years of ministerial responsibilities, I am leaving the Ministry of Labor and the government”confirmed on the one who came from the left wing of the presidential camp. “I carried these reforms, convinced of their usefulness and their necessity to preserve our social model”writes Olivier Dussopt, who was notably on the front line during the pension reform.

Coming from the Socialist Party, Olivier Dussopt joined Emmanuel Macron’s government in 2017. He was successively Secretary of State to the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, Minister Delegate in charge of Public Accounts and finally Minister of Labor since 2022. He should once again become a deputy for Ardèche.

Tried for suspicion of favoritism in a public water distribution contract in 2009, when he was mayor of Annonay (Ardèche), Olivier Dussopt will hear the decision of the Paris criminal court on January 17. The National Financial Prosecutor’s Office requested a six-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 15,000 euros against him.

The fate of Clément Beaune not yet decided

The fate of Clément Beaune, also from the left wing of the presidential camp, has not yet been decided. The government team must be completed by delegate ministers and secretaries of state who have not yet been chosen.

Onthe one who has held the position of Minister Delegate in charge of Transport since July 2022 said on Friday “proud to have been a minister for three and a half years in the governments of Jean Castex and Elisabeth Borne”. His position has not yet been assigned in the new government.
