After the singer, songwriter and author caps, Olivia Ruiz takes on the writer’s cap with the comic strip adaptation of her book, “La Commode aux trois couleurs”
Between two scales at the Bouffes du Nord theater in Paris, the artist Olivia Ruiz tells the story of the creation of her new work, which is not an album, but a comic entitled “The three-color chest of drawers”, inspired by his eponymous book. A story that traces that of his family, having had to flee Spain during the war. “Me, what I wanted is that the language of these women is not distorted”, explains the artist.
There is no public particularly targeted by this work, and this is a detail that Olivia Ruiz does not prefer to announce. “It’s the kind of thing that can freeze me”, she adds. His book was written with emotions, just like his first novel. For her, it is a very different writing from a song, since it can “take the time to create a climate, to let tension rise, except that one does not have the magnificent spring of hearing”, she specifies.
