Four days after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the one who played her in seasons 3 and 4 of the popular series The CrownOlivia Colman, paid tribute to him on Sunday during his visit to the Toronto International Film Festival, where she defends the film Empire of Light by Sam Mendes.

Oscar-winning actress for another queen role, Queen Anne, in The Favorite by Yórgos Lánthimos in 2019, answered questions from the specialized publication variety about the death of Elizabeth II, which she claims to be still digesting and analyzing several days later.

Olivia Colman also praised King Charles III’s first speech. “From a British point of view, he did it very well. He did it with love, tolerance and gentleness, and that’s what Elizabeth II always wanted. I was proud to be British while listening to the speech of Charles III. I think he will do a good job. »
It is the actress Imelda Staunton who will play Elizabeth II in seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown, whose filming was temporarily suspended, “out of respect”, when his death was announced. Season 5 will premiere on Netflix in November.
