Old Port of Montreal | Man missing for several days after falling from a boat

The Montreal Police Department is looking for a 33-year-old man who allegedly fell from a tour boat not far from the Jacques-Cartier Bridge on Saturday evening.


A 33-year-old man reportedly fell from a tour boat near the Jacques-Cartier Bridge on Saturday evening, around 9:15 p.m., according to information from the Montreal Police Department (SPVM).

“It was an accidental event,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, media relations officer at the SPVM.

About twenty people were on the boat at the time of the accident. According to the newspaper’s information The Heraldit would be a young Colombian man, visiting Montreal for summer vacation. He would have fallen from the third floor of a yacht.

The SPVM was assisting the Canadian Coast Guard with the search on Saturday evening, and the file was transferred to them on Sunday at noon. The search involved patrol boats on the banks, as well as the SPVM nautical patrol on the waters of the St. Lawrence River.

At the time of writing, the investigation is still ongoing to find the missing person and elucidate the circumstances of the accident. Concerning a possible drowning, “we can’t assume anything until we find the person,” emphasizes Caroline Chèvrefils. “But the last time the person was seen, it was in the water.”
