Olympique Lyonnais sent a letter to the Professional Football League (LFP) to contest the agreement between the body and the Qatari channel beIN Sports, the sports management of Radio France learned from a close source from the Rhone club, confirming information from the daily The Team.

The beIN Sports TV rights contract includes a fixed portion of 80 million euros in rights and 20 million in sponsorship linked to the promotion of Qatar. These 20 million represent 738,000 euros per club. The Qatari broadcaster has not yet settled the first deadline scheduled for the start of the season. “We ask you to immediately take all necessary steps to recover the sums owed by beIN Sports”we can read in the letter sent to the president of the LFP Vincent Labrune.

And to add: “It is specified that this overall amount of 20 [millions d’euros] is processed outside of the TV rights distribution guide. We therefore have no other choice than to contest the LFP’s decision of July 31, 2024, particularly as it concerns the ”Deal Sponsoring” aspect with beIN Sports.” And to conclude: “OL considers the partnership agreed to in violation of our rights as null and void.”
