(Edmonton) Nick Bjugstad scored twice as the Edmonton Oilers prevailed 6-3 against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday to take control 3-2 in the opening round series in the West.
Game 6 will be played Saturday in Los Angeles.
If the series were to continue, everything would be settled Monday, in Alberta.
Other scorers for the Oilers were Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane, Zach Hyman and Brett Kulak.
Draisaitl dominates with six goals in the current playoffs.
Captain Connor McDavid provided two assists, as did Mattias Ekholm and Darnell Nurse.
Edmonton native Stuart Skinner made 25 saves.
He was back at the post after giving up his place to Jack Campbell on Sunday in what ended up being an overtime win for the Oilers.
Joonas Korpisalo was replaced by Phoenix Copley in the middle period, after Bjugstad’s opening goal made it 4-2. The latter reissued at the start of the third third.
Korpisalo stopped 15 shots, Copley six.
Quinton Byfield, Adrian Kempe and Alex Iafallo fought back for the Kings.
The Oilers faced only one penalty, which they passed.
Two of their three superiors have come to fruition, giving them an eight-for-14 performance since the start of the series.
