Ohio | Shooter fires at Walmart, possibly injuring people

(Beavercreek) A shooter opened fire Monday night at an Ohio Walmart, but police did not immediately confirm reports that several people were injured.

The attack was reported around 8:30 p.m. at the Walmart in Beavercreek, a city of about 50,000 in the Dayton metro area.

“The building has been cleared and secured. There is no active threat at this time,” police said on Facebook about an hour after the shooting.

Investigators did not immediately release further details.

At least three people were injured and taken to Soin Medical Center, a Kettering Health spokesperson told WHIO-TV.

Additionally, the Greene County Coroner’s Office told the station that its staff was called to the scene, although it was not immediately clear whether the shooter or a victim had died.

“We are heartbroken by what happened at our store in Beavercreek, Ohio. The situation remains evolving and we are working closely with investigators on scene,” a Walmart spokesperson told the station.
