OGC Nice has found its sporting director in Florent Ghisolfi

The organization chart is taking shape at OGC Nice. After the announcement of the arrival of Fabrice Bocquet as general manager, the Gym has apparently found its sports director. This is Florent Ghisolfi, currently stationed at RC Lens. According to our colleagues from L’Equipe, the former Bastia and Reims player has accepted the Nice challenge and will take over from Julien Fournier. His departure in the middle of summer had forced the Gym to tinker with a wobbly transfer window while waiting to find his replacement. It is now done.

A sporting and personal choice

A choice that may surprise both sides but that seems relevant. Florent Ghisolfi does not have much experience of the position and at 37 remains young in the world of football. But the work done at RC Lens as sports director since his arrival in the North in May 2019 allows him today to be attractive for a project as ambitious as Ineos. Going the other way, one might wonder why jump ship Blood and Gold when everything seems to be going like a dream this season. Convincing results (Lens is 4th in Ligue 1), an osmosis with coach Franck Haise, and recruits who almost systematically turn into reinforcements. But the financial power of Ineos offers it the possibility of taking an additional step and seeing even higher in the future. His choice would also be guided by personal considerations. with the desire to get closer to the south of France while part of his family lives in Corsica.

He has already collaborated with Fabrice Bocquet in Lorient

In Nice he will also find Fabrice Bocquet, with whom he has already collaborated in Lorient. Ghisolfi has indeed started his post-career as an assistant coach, in particular Mickaël Landreau at Les Merlus. It was after Landreau’s departure to Lorient that Ghisolfi joined Lens as sports coordinator. With the success that we know. Today he will be able to embody the new sports policy of the Gym, which has remained unreadable since this summer. And work, already, on the winter transfer window, which could be very active in Nice.
