Heavy hailstones fell in Allier, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Alsace. In the Loire the wind blew at 90km / h, and in Haute-Saône, 3000 users were affected by a power cut.
The violent storms that have occurred in the east of France have already caused damage in several cities, in particular in the five departments concerned by red vigilance for storms according to Météo France (Doubs, Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Jura and the Territory of Belfort). Météo France had planned “dangerous phenomena of exceptional intensity” and called on the inhabitants of the departments concerned to take shelter.
350 square meters of ceiling collapsed in a supermarket in Dijon, on the passage of thunderstorms, reports France Bleu Bourgogne. Customers and staff present inside at the time of the accident were evacuated. In the hamlet of Bourguignon, in Meursanges, near Beaune, around forty houses were badly affected by the storms. A command post was set up on site. Warehouses were affected, including one of 3,000 square meters in Sainte-Marie-la-Blanche near Beaune. “The Beaune sector and the south of Dijon are the most affected”, reports Colonel Tardieu, deputy director of SDIS 21, at the microphone of France Bleu Bourgogne. In total, 101 firefighters were mobilized throughout the department, and they intervened a hundred times. Despite the violence of the storms, no injuries are to be deplored, according to France Bleu Bourgogne.
power outages
At 10 p.m., around 6,000 homes were without electricity in the Haut-Rhin, a return to normal being mentioned this Wednesday at 10 a.m. on the Enedis site. Traffic was briefly interrupted at Euroairport between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Still in the department, at 10 p.m., 208 interventions were in progress, mainly for falling branches or objects on the roads.
Still at 10 p.m., the Bas-Rhin firefighters had received more than 500 calls and carried out more than 100 interventions: according to the first data, we noted 87 km / h of wind at the Strasbourg Entzheim weather station, 102 km / h at Colmar-Meyenheim, 109km/h at Euroairport and finally 114km/h at Markstein.
Very large hailstones
The storms also hit the Allier hard, especially the town of Gannat, where hailstones fell “the size of a petanque ball”, some of which have gutted house roofs, explains the mayor of the town to France Bleu Pays d’Auvergne. Hailstones also fell in Meurthe-et-Moselle and Alsace.
THE prefect of Haute-Saône announces on the prefecture’s Twitter account that 3,900 users are affected by a power cut in the following sectors: Lure, Faverney and Champlitte. The prefecture specifies that an Enedis intervention is in progress.
The wind blew hard in Roanne, in the Loire, a department placed in orange vigilance: France Bleu Saint-Etienne Loire speaks of winds at 90 km / h. Strong gusts are also reported in Côte-d’Or and Bas-Rhin.
In the Jura, now back in orange vigilance for thunderstorms, the prefecture specifies this Tuesday evening in a last update at 11 p.m. that “faced with the weakening of the disturbance, the Prefect has deactivated the departmental operational center”.
The situation on the rails is nevertheless improving, with despite everything still delays, sometimes significant, on the TER lines of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Same thing on the side of the Grand Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté axes.
