Several refugees from Ukraine had been welcomed on a ferry, transformed into a shelter. Among them, two women, who have been relocated to Bouches-du-Rhône and Hautes-Pyrénées.

Two Ukrainian women have fled their country at war to find refuge in France. The two women arrived in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) at the end of April, and lived for a while on a ferry, transformed into a temporary accommodation center. “This little room is much more than a cocoon, after the war and so much pain, it’s an opportunity to breathe”confided at the time Olga Rulova, Ukrainian refugee. She was relocated to a hotel in Lourdes (Hautes-Pyrénées), while the boat has stopped welcoming refugees and wants to work in France.

In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), another Ukrainian refugee was hired in a restaurant. “I was looking for something in catering, that’s what I was doing in Ukraine”explains Vira Tomylko, a Ukrainian refugee. “Like all restaurateurs in this country, I am understaffed”says Bernard Marty, president of UMIH 13.
