On Wednesday March 23, a film inspired by a true story, very little known, is released to movie theater. “Of our brothers wounded” retraces the tragic fate of the couple Yveton in the midst of the Algerian war, which have fought for independence.

Of our wounded brothers, realized by Helier Cisternbegins as a love affair between Fernand and Hélène Yveton. NOTWe are in 1955, they settle down in an Algeria shaken by war. Fernand, a communist activist, has chosen his camp: it will be that of independence. Little by little, he approaches the FLN and the Algerian fighters. The war destroyed their lives“, says actor Vincent Lacoste, who plays Fernand. His engagement takes a turn when he plants a bombshell. He will be arrested and tortured. If thefailed, he will be guillotined as an example.

The film denounces military and expeditious justice. By doing so, “I had the impression of asking myself a lot of contemporary questions“, analyzes the director. The film is based on a true story. Fernando Yveton is one of those rare Europeans from Algeria who took up the cause of independence, their names have often disappeared from the history books. Of our wounded brothers is a film about commitment, the tragedy of the Algerian war and the tragic fate of a couple.
