of high school students offer an advent calendar … in music

This is the tradition of the month of December: the advent calendar. But at Camille Vernet high school, we envision it … in music. Pupils offer a repeat video every day in a calendar available on the internet.

Led by their music teacher, the students play and sing a different song every day and distribute it in an advent calendar on the internet. A cover of the group Eurythmics, Vanessa Paradis or soon Simon and Garfunkel, each box has its own musical style.

The students do everything: the music, the singing, the arrangements. It requires a lot of work admits Gabriel in terminal and in music specialty: “For example, last week, we took away our usual schedules and spent all of our time on the advent calendar. It’s a very important organization because every time a group gets ready, a other is registered “.

After hours of rehearsal, the performances are filmed by their teacher Jean-Pierre Avond. He posts the videos every morning. It takes a lot of time, but the result is there: “We receive a lot of emails from people who congratulate us. We even have a lady we didn’t know and who gave us a box of chocolate. I’m extremely proud of their work”.

Students are assessed for these retakes. It’s real school work. But no doubt, the grades will be good. To find the advent calendar: click here.
