From Monday, October 17, the ELA dictation is organized in several establishments in order to support the ELA association, which helps research to overcome rare diseases. On this occasion, France Télévisions wanted to test the spelling level of a few volunteers. The pen ready for action, the sheet well adjusted… A group of retirees therefore embarked on writing an extract from the text of Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, dictated to college students, Monday, October 17. Here they are again immersed in the past participles, the words of use and the subtleties of the French language. If the agreement of the past participle, even in its most complex form, does not pose any concern, there is debate on the spelling of the word “tranquility”.

Dictation has always fascinated, as much as it worried. In the 1960s, the exercise was carried out with a pen and in the silence of a cathedral. There is much less pressure today among young adults, to whom a team from France Télévisions submitted the key points of the dictation. For faultless, it’s not won, and it’s not always easy to assume…
