The civic hour system suggests giving a little of your time to help others. 150 town halls have already embarked on the adventure in France.

In Pleyben (Finistère), once a week, for an hour, Dominique François shares a special moment with her neighbor. She comes to read to Alice Quéré, 92 years old. The latter never left her village, where she was a trader all her life. But today, she doesn’t see many people anymore. Offering an hour of your time to change the daily lives of your neighbors: this is the concept of civic hour.

The system will be gradually deployed throughout France

In the small town of Pleyben, nearly one in 30 residents has already joined the project. The town is one of two Breton municipalities testing the system. DIY, help with shopping… All requests are centralized at the town hall, which connects beneficiaries and volunteers registered on the “Civic Hour” platform. In France, 150 town halls have already embarked on the adventure. The system will gradually be deployed throughout France. The “Voisins solidaires” association, at the origin of the concept, hopes to mobilize five million French people.
