In Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont, in the Somme, a group of curious people observe the migration of birds at the time of climate change. A good way to see the influence it has on wildlife life.

The transition to winter time means first of all fewer days. For the migrants, it is a sign that it is necessary to go down towards the South. The birds fly from Scandinavia where the temperatures drop, and the curious are eager to observe in the early morning in Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont (Somme). “With the temperatures which are much milder at the moment, they will be making longer stops, for example”explains Léa Coftier, naturalist guide at Marquenterre Park.

It is an ornithological reserve of choice, a “quieter, quieter area” according to her, where the visitors are hidden. Tourists can observe 320 species of birds of all sizes. “A priori, they take advantage of the good weather a little more before resuming their migration. It’s worrying without being worrying, we tell ourselves that despite everything, it continues”, says a man. The presence of common birds or not is a good indicator of climate disturbances in the park.
