(Saskatoon) Mayo Schmidt has resigned as President and CEO of Nutrien and stepped down from his position on the company’s board of directors.
The fertilizer producer said Tuesday that Ken Seitz, executive vice president and chief executive officer of Nutrien’s potash business, has been appointed interim chief executive.
Mr. Seitz, former CEO of Canpotex, joined Nutrien in 2019.
Nutrien Chairman Russ Girling thanked Mr. Schmidt for his service and wished him the best in his next endeavors.
Mr. Schmidt was appointed CEO of Nutrien in April 2021. He joined the company’s board of directors in 2012 and served as its chairman from May 2019 until his appointment. as CEO.
Girling said the board will begin a global search for a new CEO, who will consider internal and external candidates.
