Nupes steals half of the constituencies from the Macronists

The smiles of the five new deputies of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union contrast with the sad faces of the elected Macronists, forced to give up their seats to the National Assembly. After winning all of the Loire-Atlantique constituencies in 2017, the presidential majority yields, this Sunday evening, half to the left alliance supported by the La France Insoumise party. Among the new ones are the former collaborator of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Matthias Tavel, the Ecologist Julie Laernoes or the Insoumis Andy Kerbrat.

Julie Laernoes achieves the biggest Nupes score in the department

La Nupes converted the try. After a first round during which the left-wing union culminated in the lead in 8 of the 10 Loire-Atlantique constituencies, it managed to send 5 deputies to the Palais Bourbon. Acclaimed with more than 58% of the votesthe future ex-vice-president of Nantes Métropole, Julie Laernoes, can boast of being elected with the best score of Nupes in the department.

Ditto, the Insoumis Andy Kerbrat and Matthias Tavel, who total 55.80% and 54.45% of the vote respectively, have their constituency swing back to the left in favor of their success against outgoing Valérie Oppelt and Audrey Dufeu. A performance also produced by Ségolène Amiot and Jean-Claude Raux which has allowed Nupes to firmly anchor itself in a monochrome department for five years.

Sandrine Josso, Sarah El Haïry, Yannick Haury and Sophie Errante save their heads

But Macronie does not disappear from the political landscape in Loire-Atlantique. Testifies to this the re-election of the former Secretary of State to Jean-Michel BlanquerSarah El Haïry, in the fifth constituency, that of Nantes and Carquefou, with 54.41% of the vote against the candidate invested by LFI, Sabine Lalande.

Outgoing candidate supported by the presidential coalition, Sandrine Josso also returns for five years as deputy for La Baule-Escoublac and Le Croisic, in the same way as Yannick Haury in the constituency of Pornic and Sophie Errante who wins against another Insoumis, Bruno Cailleteau, in the Vineyard. As for Mounir Belhamiti, former substitute for outgoing François de Rugy, he will rediscover the National Assembly where he sat between October 2018 and August 2019when the MP for the first constituency had been appointed Minister for the Ecological Transition.
