The left wants to move forward far from Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s posts. Several meetings against the immigration bill are being organized at the moment, before the text arrives at the National Assembly on Monday December 11, the first took place Monday evening at Bellevilloise, in Paris. And in the midst of the controversy over the rebellious leader’s comments about journalist Ruth Elkrief, several activists are saying it clearly: they want to talk about something else.
Three left-wing activists met at the meeting thus show a movement of retreat when we come to talk to them about the new post by Jean-Luc Mélenchon from X, formerly Twitter. “I’m not going to comment.”sweeps first. “We’re fed up, we’re not here for that, we’re here for fraternity”, slices the second. “We are not here to comment on tweets, comment comments and little sentences”, continues the last one, which slips: “That’s not what politics is for us.”
“Lone Rider”
Caught up for months by the outings of the leader of the Insoumis, at the time of the riots or the Hamas attack, those who still believe in the union of the left want to make this new controversy a non-issue to avoid fueling a serial. “Jean-Luc Mélenchon goes it alone and isolates himself more and more, I don’t know where he’s going. It’s his business”estimates Etienne, a young environmentalist.
Others, even outside of La France insoumise, think on the contrary that Jean-Luc Mélenchon is not an option, like Sylvie. “We can’t do without Jean-Luc Mélenchon. He’s the best known, he’s the one we hear the most, the one we’ll look for the most, the one whose slightest thought we’re on the hunt for , that’s inevitable.” According to her, we must move forward with common battles, while waiting for the rebels to come to their senses.
