Born in the Donetsk region, Kirill Stremoussov, 45, embodied the face of the Russian occupation in the Ukrainian regional capital. In his last message, posted this morning, he said that Ukrainian forces were trying to infiltrate from all directions, but that the situation was still under the control of the Russian army.
The governor of annexed Crimea, Sergei Axionov, spoke for his part “a huge, huge tragedy” and “an irreparable loss”. He also added that the official’s family would receive support.

Since the conquest of the Kherson region in early March, Kirill Stremoussov had been one of the most zealous spokespersons for the Russian occupation forces. He spoke very often in the pro-Kremlin media and ardently supported the Russian military campaign in Ukraine.
